About This Video

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I truly believe the way to every single dog’s heart is through their stomach—so in this video I’m whipping up the cutest, brightest red Valentine’s Day dog treats with only 3 ingredients. The best part? There’s zero food coloring. The gorgeous red comes from a beet, which also adds nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (great in moderation), and the star of the show is chicken breast. I walk you through exactly how I make them: I trim off the visible fat (our dogs don’t need that extra fat), aim for about 8 ounces of chicken breast, and use half a beet plus one large egg. Everything gets simmered in a saucepan for about 15 minutes to cook the chicken and soften the beet, then it goes into a food processor (or blender) with the egg until it turns into a dough-like texture. Spoon it into an oven-safe silicone mold (I used hearts, obviously), bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, and let them cool. You’ll even get a super pretty two-tone look on the back—totally Instagram-worthy. For storage, I keep them in the fridge up to 4 days or freeze them for 2–3 months.
