About This Video

It’s the month of love, so in this video I’m making the cutest bright red Beet Biscuits for your canine Valentine. The best part? No food coloring. I like to keep things as natural as possible, and since one of the biggest benefits of homemade dog treats is controlling every single ingredient, I use a real boiled beet to get that gorgeous red hue. I walk you through prepping the beet (wash, peel, chop, and simmer about 15 minutes), then pulsing it in a food processor until it’s like a “cauliflower rice” texture. You’ll use 1 cup oat flour and 1/3 cup coconut flour (measured with my spoon-and-level method), plus 1/4 cup ground beet and 1/2 cup of that beet-infused water you cooked it in—don’t toss it! I mix until crumbly, then knead into a dough ball, and roll it out using my favorite parchment paper sandwich method to keep things clean and prevent sticking. Cut into hearts, bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, cool on a wire rack, and you’ll get biscuits that are crunchy outside with a cookie-like softness inside—my dogs absolutely love them.
