When it comes to holiday pie, are you team apple or pumpkin? Since I recently shared a Fido-friendly version of apple pie (link below), I knew I also needed to come up with a pumpkin pie version. These may look like a time-consuming and complicated recipe to create, but, they’re actually super simple. The process is similar to making homemade biscuits. In fact, hold onto the crust recipe and use it another time to create biscuits (by simply ditching the filling). About This Video

The holiday season just wouldn’t be complete without some pumpkin pie, so in this video I’m making a Fido-friendly version that’s safe for dogs (because our pumpkin pie has ingredients that aren’t good for them). These mini pumpkin pie dog treats are seriously so cute, and my dogs were loving them—tail swag and all. If you saw my apple pie dog treats a couple days ago, this one is the perfect follow-up. I walk you through the whole process step-by-step, starting with preheating the oven to 350°F and making the crusts. The crust dough is super similar to making homemade biscuits: brown rice flour, oat flour, pure pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!), and water. After you roll it out, cut circles, and shape them in a greased mini muffin tin, you bake the crusts for 15 minutes. While they bake, you mix up a simple filling with more pure pumpkin puree and an egg, then fill and bake for another 15 minutes. I also share how I store them (fridge for about four days, or freeze longer), plus my favorite idea: bringing these to a holiday dinner as a dog-friendly treat or even a hostess gift.
