About This Video

This one’s a real “solo ranch life” day at Paragon Ridge Ranch. Chrissy and the kids were off on a beach trip, and I stayed back to hold down the fort—feeding, watering, and checking on what feels like hundreds of animals. I got up while it was still cool (well… cooler), knocked out chores early, and basically treated y’all like a fly on the wall while I worked through the breeder pens, grow-outs, and the rest of our OG crew. A big part of the day was water, water, and more water. When it’s hot like this, I’m topping off waterers about three times a day to keep everybody hydrated, and that also means constantly cleaning out shavings and mess. I also show you the downside of our big water containers in summer—heat and sun turn them green fast, which is just gross. I’m talking through ideas like using copper in the waterers or even spray painting parts black for functionality (even if it looks goofy), because out here it’s about what works. By the end, it’s the usual farm reality: equipment issues (yep, a hose sprung a leak), grass growing like crazy after rain, and trying to get it all done before the heat really kicks in. Family was headed home later that day, and I wrapped it up thankful for y’all watching, commenting, and helping us keep this ranch and hatchery rolling.
