The snow has stopped, but the wind is bitter and temperatures are still below freezing. Today we walk the farm to check on everything — and the results say it all. In this video at Paragon Ridge Ranch, we show how our Ultimate Chicken Coop, annex pens, and custom windbreaks performed during the final day of a major winter snowstorm. With the sun finally out, we check on our chickens, sheep, Highland cattle, horses, and lambs to see how they handled extreme cold, wind, and snow. This is the follow-up to our winter prep video — and it proves that proper shelter, wind protection, and planning truly matter when temperatures drop below freezing. Every animal fared well, stayed protected, and came through the storm safely. If you’re a homesteader, farmer, or backyard chicken keeper preparing for winter weather, this real-life storm test shows what actually works. 👉 Watch to see: • Snowstorm aftermath on a working farm • Ultimate Chicken Coop performance in extreme cold • Windbreaks protecting livestock in high winds • Chickens and animals thriving after the storm • Winter livestock shelter ideas that actually work 📌 Subscribe to follow our full winter prep series, homestead builds, and livestock care at Paragon Ridge Ranch. #UltimateChickenCoop #HomesteadLife #WinterFarm #BackyardChickens #farmlife Chapters- 00:00 The Snow Has Stopped – Final Day After the Storm 00:48 Bitter Cold, Wind & Sunshine on the Farm 01:55 Walking the Farm After Extreme Winter Weather 03:20 Ultimate Chicken Coop After Snowstorm 05:10 Chickens Warm, Dry & Thriving 07:05 Annex Pens & Winter Protection Results 09:30 Windbreaks Holding Up in High Winds 11:55 Sheep & Lambs Staying Safe After the Storm 14:20 Highland Cattle Winter Check 16:40 Horses, Hay & Water in Freezing Temps 18:55 Why Winter Prep Matters on a Farm 21:10 What Worked & Lessons Learned 23:40 Final Farm Walk & Winter Success 🐣HATCHING TIME AFFILIATE LINK: https://hatchingtime.com/ParagonRidgeRanch 💰Coupon Code $10 Off: Paragon$10Off 🛒🐣 Visit our hatchery page, PARAGON HATCHERY! About This Video

The snow finally stopped, but I’m telling you—this was the bitter kind of cold where everything still stays below freezing and the wind is just gross. So we walked the farm and checked every single setup: the Ultimate Chicken Coop, the annex pens, the IBC containers, and all our windbreak areas. Parker was out shoveling paths so the girls would actually come out to drink and eat, and we found the usual winter reality—frozen eggs cracked open, water trying to ice over, and drifts piling up in the worst spots. What I loved seeing was the proof that good shelter and wind protection really matter. The chickens were warm, dry, and ventilated, with combs and feet looking good and no frostbite showing. Even when we saw snow packed on a chicken’s back, that’s actually a good sign—it means she’s insulated enough that the snow isn’t melting through her feathers. We checked sheep, lambs, Highland cattle, horses, and turkeys too, and everybody came through the storm safe. Biggest takeaway: plan ahead for wind, drifting, and water—because if you’ve got animals, winter prep isn’t optional.
