Happy Sunday from Paragon Ridge Ranch—this one is a full-on “day full of it” kind of ranch day where the chores never end. I started the morning meeting customers and sending Irmine eggs, zombie babies, and some bigger coronations off to their new homes. The weather was doing that classic Oklahoma thing: we went from record warm to a nasty, windy cold front blowing in fast, with temps dropping hard and teens expected overnight. So it was bundle up, hustle, and try not to lose anything to the north wind. Back at the house it was the usual grind—watering, feeding, and egg collecting across multiple pens while everything on the porch tried to take flight. I’m marking eggs by breed (you’ve got to when you run a hatchery with this many flocks), topping off water, and I’ve been adding cayenne pepper to the water for a few days because I swear we’re getting more eggs. Then the day took a turn in the best way: I went to check livestock “just to put my eyes on everybody,” and we found a brand new lamb. That’s real ranch life—wind, mud, chores, afterbirth (yep), and a sweet little baby showing up right when you least expect it.
