This is a reality look at location hopping in between overland adventure spots. There is often a lot of pavement between the spots I choose to check out, so I thought I would highlight what a travel day looks like for me. About Overland Calling: Our goal is to share adventures, overland remote work practices, gear reviews, and lessons learned in the hope that it will inspire others or aid them along the way. We are just starting out, so please subscribe if the topics interest you. Every like and subscriber help immensely! If you have any questions about something in a particular video, please let us know. We are just starting out and it is not always easy to figure out what people want to know or see the most. About This Video

In this video I’m giving y’all a reality look at what happens between the “grand adventure” moments—because there’s usually a whole lot of pavement and logistics that never make it into the highlight reel. The goal for the day was Capitol Reef National Park, but if you’ve watched my stuff you already know how this goes: I start with a plan, it changes, and I end up adapting on the fly. I roll out of the Lost World, knock out miles, and sneak in some trail time when I can—because if there’s a cool line of rocks in front of me, I’m probably not going to just drive past it. I also talk about why I love overland remote work, even when it’s a pain in the ass. It’s not all unicorns and rainbows, but a “crappy day at work” hits different when your office has that kind of view. I hike the Hickman Bridge Trail in Capitol Reef (worth it, but it’s uphill), then I go hunting for a 4WD-accessible campground without doing a ton of research—because I like the unknown, even if it means I miss stuff. The Cathedral Valley Campground is packed, so I pivot back to Fishlake National Forest, grab a windy-but-stunning dispersed spot, and get the tent up fast with storms coming and temps dropping to about 35°. I end by stumbling into the Cathedral Valley Loop—and that ride deserved its own episode.
