In this Meet Mad Max installment, I’m doing a full walkthrough of my overlanding/car camping setup—the stuff I actually bought and actually use on multi-month trips. I’ll be honest: I don’t set all of this up every single night. But if I’m planted for 3–4 days, I’ll build out the whole “office + living room” because it keeps the weather off me, keeps my electronics dry, and makes it feel less like camping and more like home. I start with my kickback area (MT RVR lounge chair, little table, foot stool), then get into my ARB 8x8 awning with the Ironman awning room. I went this route because I love having a fully enclosed room with a floor and windows—especially since I work from the road and I’m not trying to get my gear soaked. From there I show my lighting workaround (Goal Zero lights), my camp “desk” setup with the KingCamp table and my trusty Front Runner chair, plus the Mountain Mat that saves my feet and protects the awning floor. Then we hit the real overland remote work stuff: power, Starlink Mini, and how I’m running everything off a custom 280Ah battery system (plus a smaller Anker unit). I also cover cold mornings with my Sparks Overland gas heater, the not-so-glam bathroom/trash solutions, and my TopOak rooftop tent sleep setup with an Ignik electric blanket, poncho liner, and the Exped MegaMat Duo + inflator.
