It can now film footage in higher quality, it has more battery life and a bigger screen, it now comes with lens guards, they’ve released a new backpack mount, and some other minor improvements. Overall, I think it’s a pretty big upward leap from the X3, and it’s definitely the best action cam for hiking out there. ▼ TABLE OF CONTENTS 00:00 - Intro 00:35 - Why 360 01:23 - Types of Shots 02:50 - Video Quality 04:12 - Weight, Battery 04:38 - Lens Guards 05:11 - Audio 06:25 - Voice Control 06:56 - Backpack Mount 07:33 - Editing 08:47 - Final Verdict ▼ FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA https://www.instagram.com/oscarbrumelis/ https://www.tiktok.com/@oscarhikes ▼ AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE In some of our videos, I sometimes use affiliate links. About This Video

In this video I’m testing the new Insta360 X4 on real trails and comparing it directly to the Insta360 X3—the camera I already thought was the best action cam for hiking. The big upgrades are pretty simple but actually matter out in the mountains: the X4 is a bit bigger, shoots higher quality (up to 8K 360), has a bigger screen, more battery (2,290 mAh vs 1,800 mAh), and it now comes with lens guards in the box. I also show how the different 360 shooting modes compare side-by-side, plus the improved time-lapse quality (11K on X4 vs 8K on X3). I also explain why I like 360 for hiking in the first place: I don’t have to “aim” the camera like a GoPro, because it captures everything and I can reframe later. That opens up a bunch of shots—panning selfie-stick shots, drone-like follow shots, tripod walk-bys, POV scrambling footage, hyperlapses, and bullet time. On top of that, the stabilization is extremely good, and audio is finally in a much better place thanks to wind muffs plus the new “active wind reduction” setting. My verdict: yeah, it’s still the best hiking action camera—now even more so. It lets me get creative hiking footage without hauling heavy, expensive stuff like DSLRs, gimbals, or drones.
