This part of China is difficult to cross if you have your own vehicle - Not only do you need to pay for a very expensive guide, but you must be careful with what you take with you as they search everything. Watch this video to see what we had to smuggle across! This is the story of when we tried to cross from Northern Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan, Through Western China on our Suzuki DR650 motorcycles. We decided on a 4 day tour with a Chinese tour guide - you can do longer trips, but the prices are ridiculous, so the shorter the better for us. Starting at the worlds highest border crossing, The Khunjerab Pass, we then went through Tashkurgan as well as Kashgar and finally pressed on to Kyrgyzstan. Although we didn't get too much time to actually check out the sites - We spent the majority of your time dealing with the police. You unpack your bags and lay everything out for them to inspect numerous times a day. It becomes harder and harder to do it with a smile on your face. Although it is a frustrating process, it is still a beautiful part of the world with some incredible scenery!
