The Tunnel of Death and our last days in Tajikistan - Sydney to London ep 27

In this episode we hang out with other overlanders at the Green House in Dushanbe then venture through the Tunnel of Death and head into the Fann mountains! The Green House Hostel is a little overlander's mecca in Dushanbe. We hung out with people doing similar trips to ours from all over the world. Some of them are still good friends to this day. A great starting point for this episode. James used the time to do some much needed TLC to his bike. While we were there we were told about the Tunnel of Death. The tunnel connects the Capital city Dushanbe to the second largest city Khujand. it is a 5km tunnel that is considered one of the most dangerous tunnels in the world due to the low light and bad ventilation. from there we camped at Iskanderkul. Unfortunately for us the weather wasnt playing ball, but you can still see how beautiful this part of Tajikistan is. From Iskanderkul it is just a short hop over to Sarytag, a beautiful little village in the Fann Mountains It was then time to do the 7 lakes. We rode our DR650s all the way to the 7th lake at the top and spent the night camping on the water edge. We say it in every country we travelled through, but Tajikistan far exceeded our expectations. We thought we would stay just 10 days but we ended up staying 18 and we were sad to leave.
