In this Real Time rolARTdex session, I’m back at my art table building another card in my 2025 every-other-week series—and this one is all about the reminder to “Believe in Yourself.” I’m working the way I love to work: slowly, in layers, and with lots of texture. I pull in cast-off gel prints, add gritty interest with DIY sand paste, and then start building up the surface with matte gel medium, stencil work, and mark making until the card feels lived-in and honest. You’ll see me lean into my favorite mix of soft color + contrast—Marabu Art Spray in Caribbean for that juicy pop, then Pearl White stencil butter to bring in light and dimension. I finish it off with Stabilo lines, black archival ink for grounding, and a few metallic details (plus thread) to make it feel special without getting fussy. If you’re new to rolodex art, this is a good example of how I let scraps and simple supplies do the heavy lifting—play first, then refine, and end with a message you actually want to keep in front of you.
