Hey my pearls—this video is my first time trying Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Elongating Curling Gel on my fine, chemical-free type 3 hair. I picked it up at CVS during a sale, and because it’s marketed as “don’t shrink,” I was genuinely curious how it would behave on me since I don’t really deal with shrinkage. I also intentionally tried it without a leave-in at first because I like to use products as instructed (and honestly, the directions on the jar were a little confusing). I applied it on soaking wet hair using my raking method, and the biggest tip is: keep that water bottle close. The gel got more slip once I added more water, and I could see my curls clumping with a lot of shine. My main concern was that an elongating gel might leave my fine hair looking stringy, plus I expected light hold—but day four surprised me. I still had a noticeable gel cast in parts of my crown, while other sections stayed softer, and the most obvious elongation showed up in my nape area. Overall, it’s a solid, affordable gel that performed better than I expected, and I’d use it again (just not specifically for elongation).
