In this video I’m sharing two things I’ve doubled down on in 2025 that have truly helped me maintain healthy, fine natural hair: pre-pooing and deep conditioning—faithfully. I’m Regina in Atlanta, and because I live with thyroid disease (and yes, it can wreak havoc on your hair), I’ve had to get really intentional about what actually makes a difference. Pre-pooing became an absolute game changer for me once I stopped dabbling and got consistent—especially when I switched from “just any conditioner” pre-poo to oils. I walk you through how I pre-poo: I lightly dampen my hair, part in sections, and apply oil mainly to my scalp (with a little through the hair), then I shampoo like normal. The result for me has been less dryness, less itching, less flaking, and softer, shinier hair—so I don’t plan to ever stop. Then we get into deep conditioning, which I now do weekly with heat. I take my time, use a plastic cap, sit under my hooded dryer (sometimes with a steam cap), and I don’t do less than 25–30 minutes because my fine hair responds so well. I also touch on staying minimal with products, giving products time to work, taking vitamins as support (not magic), and keeping up with trims—because healthy ends matter just as much as moisture.
