Hey pearls! In this video I’m taking my fine, chemical-free natural hair that’s been flat ironed for almost two weeks and giving it new life without adding more heat. I’ve been going back and forth between flat ironing and roller sets lately, but mid-week I wasn’t about to shampoo again—I just wanted curls, fluff, and volume. So I grabbed my gigantic jumbo/burgundy flexi rods (yes, I finally bought the bigger size after years) and showed you how I use them to get loose, flowing heatless curls on stretched hair. I also shared what I used to prep and maintain my straight style at home: a basic clarifying shampoo to give my hair a clean slate, then a moisturizing shampoo to put moisture back in, plus an inexpensive blow dryer and my flat iron temp (380) based on what my stylist uses. For the set, I used the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Wrap & Set Mousse for light hold—just enough so my curls last, but still soft enough that I can run my fingers through, brush, comb, or even wrap it to preserve the set. My biggest tips: sections can be larger with jumbo rods, end wraps help keep the ends smooth, and don’t roll too tight so you can actually sleep. The next morning, I took them down and got those flowy, feminine curls that are perfect for preserving straight hair—naturally corporate.
