Salam alaikum and hello—this is my initial review of a watch from a brand I’ve never tried before: the Phorcydes PH-2 from AliExpress. For the longest time, if you wanted that vintage skin-diver vibe, the “default choice” was usually the 62MAS-style homages (like my San Martin SM00007X with PT5000 that’s been solid for years). But this PH-2 caught my eye because the case design is genuinely different—almost like a cylinder with the mid-case built through it—and I haven’t seen other brands doing this exact look. In this video I go through the unboxing, dimensions, and the details that matter: 40mm diameter, about 13.1mm thick, 48mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lug width, 316L steel, a high dome/box sapphire crystal, and a ceramic fully-lumed bezel insert with a nice 120-click action. The dial is matte black, and the big selling point for me is the crazy “3D block” lume on the indices and even on the hands—plus a blue/green lume combo that looks absolutely cool. I also share the quirks: the bezel has no minute graduations, and setting precise minutes can be annoying because the minute track sits inside the dial. Price-wise, it’s wild that the strap and bracelet versions can cost the same—personally, I’d go bracelet and add a cheap AliExpress rubber later.
