In this AliExpress Anniversary Sales Special, I’m back with the full review of the Militado ML18—after living with it for about a month since my unboxing. The big issue (and the reason I’m honestly disappointed) is the bracelet. I couldn’t get it to work, I asked the seller for a replacement, waited a few weeks, and they told me it’s out of stock. They refunded me a few dollars, but that doesn’t really fix the problem because this is not a cheap watch—around USD100 normally, maybe USD85–90 during sales—so for the money, I think I deserve better. The ML18 is basically an affordable homage to the Sinn 556i, but with a smaller 35.8mm case (9.8mm thick, 42.5mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lug width). I go through the simple matte black dial, the baton indices (no double baton at 12, so night reading isn’t as intuitive), and the pilot-style hands. The Seiko VH31 gives that 4-ticks-per-second sweep that looks “automatic-ish,” and the BGW9 lume is actually strong for printed markers. Since the bracelet is a fail, I show it on a few straps—including leather, a Vario two-piece, and a mesh—because this monochrome dial can look great on almost anything.
