About This Video

Hello guys. In this video, I literally went from trying on the Tudor Black Bay Harrods special edition… to saying, you know what, let’s skip that one because I have kids, and I ended up doing the much more affordable thing: I went into Argos in Hounslow, London. It was freezing (about 8°C), I couldn’t order online, so I had to use the in-store kiosk system, print the receipt, pay, and collect the watch from the counter. The watch I picked up is my first ever Lorus: the Lorus RJ655AX-9 (RJ655 AX9), and I paid £25. I break down the quick specs (36.7mm diameter, 8.5mm thick, 43.1mm lug-to-lug, 18mm lug width, 42g), and I share my first impressions on the super simple, super legible fully-lumed dial with black printing and a date window. It’s a Seiko-under-brand, Japan movement quartz, and importantly for me, it doesn’t have that loud “cheap Timex” ticking that used to annoy me at night. The highlight is the lume test—this Lumibrite full lume dial is honestly crazy bright, and it easily beats my older Citizen diver. For 25 quid, you really can’t go wrong, and I’m going to test whether it stays bright through the night by leaving it at my bedside.
