In this Dolly Dreams episode, I’m trying a slightly different format and ranking the American Girl dolls we’re currently missing from our collection—least important to most important—starting at number six and working up to my number one “unicorn.” I’m focusing on both Historical and Girl of the Year gaps, and I wanted to do it as a slideshow so newer collectors can actually see who I’m talking about instead of just hearing a name. I talk through why some dolls just aren’t a priority for me right now (like Kaye/“Kylie” because she’s honestly forgettable to me, and Nikki because I’m not really a horse girl). Then we get into dolls I genuinely love and regret not getting—like Cécile, because the Sonali mold is my absolute favorite and her hazel-gray eyes are so unique. I also gush over how stunning Marisol/Maya (Mia) is, especially with that hair-and-eye combo, and I share why I’d love to see more Girl of the Year themes that aren’t the same recycled sports and activities. And of course, my number one is Sonali Matthews—my holy grail doll—and I explain exactly why I regret not buying her back when I saw her in person at the Mall of America.
