In this video I’m freeing Modern Era Molly from her box and doing a closer look at all her details. I also chat a little about the rumors that these might be tied to the 40th anniversary, but I’m not getting into all that—I’m just showing you what I actually have in my hands. This Molly was a Valentine’s Day/Easter gift from my mom, and even though Molly wasn’t my favorite Modern Era doll, she’s still super nostalgic for me because Molly was my childhood American Girl. I go over the packaging first, because I genuinely love this box. It’s made to look like the original book, and it’s way more unique than the typical square AG box, so I’m keeping it for display. That said, getting her out is kind of a pain—there are a ton of ties, including the annoying ones through the back of her head (Barbie-style), plus tags on the hat and skirt. Once she’s out, I compare her size to my WellyWisher (Gwen) and confirm these Modern Era girls are basically Welly-sized (about 14.5 inches) with identical bodies—just different heads/faces. I also share my honest thoughts on her outfit (those shoes!), her lighter hair color, and her “gray” eyes that read more blue to me.
