San Francisco is my home away from home, and in this vlog I’m sharing the best and worst of it—because both are real, and pretending otherwise feels dishonest. I came in on a 32-hour layover and landed right into Halloween night chaos. Between a scary, aggressive driver situation on the way to the hotel and being taken straight through the Tenderloin, I saw a side of the city that felt genuinely dystopian and deeply depressing. I also took a minute to say what I needed to say about blackout drinking culture—especially for girls—because it’s not “cute,” and it’s never worth losing control of your circumstances. But then… San Francisco did what San Francisco always does for me: it gave me beauty, joy, and that escape feeling I can’t replicate anywhere else. I grabbed Philz (mint mojito—though I regretted not trying the seasonal tiramisu), rode through the hills in a Waymo, and spent the day in Golden Gate Park at the California Academy of Sciences—one of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to. I finally met Claude (the local celebrity albino alligator), learned wild facts (electric eels can shock you up to 8 hours after they die?!), and left with the cutest souvenirs. To end the day, I got dressed up and went to Kokkari Estiatorio for an incredible Greek dinner—stunning ambiance, unforgettable flavors, and the kind of night that reminds me why I love visiting this city so much… even when it’s complicated.
