In this vlog, I had the incredible experience of dining at Mr. Jiu’s, a Michelin-star restaurant in San Francisco’s Chinatown, led by James Beard Award–winning chef Brandon Jew. It was one of those meals you think about long after the trip is over. Thoughtful, modern Chinese dishes in a space that feels both historic and special. This San Francisco layover also turned into one of the most beautiful city mornings. I grabbed coffee at Motoring Coffee, wandered through the Marina District, and walked along Crissy Field with views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. I even rode through the Presidio of San Francisco in a self-driving car with Waymo, which felt very futuristic and very San Francisco. If you’ve ever wondered what a flight attendant layover can really look like, this one was a perfect mix of great food, long walks, and iconic views a little reset in the middle of a busy work schedule. About This Video

I kicked this San Francisco layover vlog off at home (which I never do anymore) and headed out with one goal in mind: saving my appetite for a Michelin-star dinner in Chinatown. I had one flight to SFO, packed my usual “keep me feeling good” staples (overnight oats with chia/flax/blueberries, a Trader Joe’s ginger shot, coconut water, an apple, and bone broth), and then it was straight into layover mode. Even with my legs absolutely wrecked from a workout, I was so excited because the weather finally cooperated—60s, sunny, and that crisp San Francisco wind. The highlight was Mr. Jiu’s—nine years with a Michelin star, and chef/owner Brandon Jew is a James Beard winner. It really was one of those meals you think about long after. The Peking duck was so robust, the crab egg drop fried rice was divine, and the scallion milk bread with caviar and honey butter… I don’t even want to talk about it because it was that good. The next morning was my perfect SF reset: coffee at Motoring Coffee, a long walk through the Marina and Crissy Field with Golden Gate views, and then a Waymo ride through the Presidio with my music playing—so futuristic and so San Francisco. It was one of those layovers I already know I’ll look back on so fondly.
