I’m off on a festive little road trip to Norfolk with Luke to see Kate, and it’s all centred around one of my favourite things we’ve done for years: our thrifted gift exchange. Before we set off, I’m at home wrapping the presents I’ve been squirrelling away all year (classic me), using some brilliant boot sale wrapping paper that looks straight out of the 90s. I also chat through the reality of December brain—busy, a bit overwhelmed, and suddenly realising I should’ve done more yoga because wrapping on the floor is not for the hips. On the way down we do a proper services stop (because I love one), talk Christmas video chaos vs “winging it”, and plan all the cosy bits: making a ham hock pie, festive drinks (including a cranberry Aperol spritz idea), and even a wreath with dehydrated orange slices. Once we’re reunited, we pop champagne and do a very honest taste test—surprising results, lots of fizz chat, and a few questionable bottle moments. It’s relaxed, cosy, and exactly the kind of festive vlog I love making: friends, bargains, food plans, and a homey weekend on a budget.
