Hello everybody! In this vlog I’m taking you with me to Lübeck in Germany for what might genuinely be the most festive city I’ve ever been to. I booked everything way back in summer (very organised for me) and managed to fly out for just under £45 return with a very early Ryanair flight from Stansted. I also stayed at the Radisson Blu at the airport to make the morning easier, then checked into the Premier Inn in Lübeck for about £50 a night — honestly, such a bargain little Christmas trip. Once I’m in the Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage site), it’s all medieval streets, Gothic brick buildings, cosy courtyards and the loveliest independent shops. I mooch around homeware and gift shops, pop into an antique shop with the most fragile pre-war glass ornaments, and then do what I always do abroad: accidentally fall into an H&M sale and come out with a full outfit. Then it’s straight to the Christmas markets — including the historic medieval one — for twinkly lights, sausages (condiments still make me nervous), and the main event: Eierpunsch with cream on top. I finish at Schiffergesellschaft, a historic sailors’ guildhall restaurant from 1535, with the cosiest candlelit vibes and a proper hearty dinner.
