This week is very last minute (I’m filming about two hours before you’re watching it) because it’s launch week for my book, Clean in 15. But I really wanted to kick off my new “sorting my home out” series, because I’ve found a technique that’s genuinely helped me stop getting stuck in my own space. I’m great at walking into other people’s homes and seeing what’s working and what isn’t — but in my own place, I can make excuses and keep things the same just because they always have been. So in this video I take a clipboard (well… a file, because I sold my clipboard at the boot sale last year) and I go room by room writing down only what isn’t working — no solutions yet. From the loft room not being used how I imagined, to mirrored wardrobe doors driving me bonkers, to the living room TV blocking the shutters and my ancient sofa finally giving up, it’s all going on the list. The key takeaway: do a full-home overview first, because everything has a knock-on effect. Then you can lay all your lists out together, start spotting patterns, and come back with solutions that actually make sense across the whole house.
