It is a rainy day in London and Luke & I are back at Peckham Car Boot Sale… selling, not just shopping (men of our word). After a proper little ritual breakfast—strong coffee and a bacon sandwich with half ketchup, half brown sauce (I know, really uncouth)—we queued up with all the sellers and waited for the gates. The weather was doing the most (drizzle, then sunshine, then wind), so I came prepared: waterproof trousers, a fleece, and my trusty snow boots because soggy feet at the boot sale is not a vibe. This one was all about a pre-Christmas clear-out, raising money for two charities: I’m donating my takings to Celia Hammond Animal Trust (CHAT), and Luke’s going to Mind. We also brought coats, hats, gloves and scarves for Wrap-Up London, which felt so important at this time of year. I chat through how we set up, what sold, and my little mindset shift—standing my ground a bit more on prices because it’s for charity (and yes, you can read people’s body language). We ended the day counting up the cash and feeling really chuffed with what we raised, then popped leftover bits into local charity shops. Proper festive clear-out energy.
