I built Tony Stark's iconic Iron Man gauntlet in real life using metal 3D printing! This build combines 3D printing, machining, and engineering to bring one of my favorite superhero props closer to reality. From design to fabrication, this gauntlet is more than just a remake of my first ever project, it’s the start of something bigger. In this video, I’ll walk you through the process of creating a functional, polished version of Iron Man’s armor piece, and show how my approach has evolved since the original hand I built years ago. **************************************** Want to order your very own 3D printed parts? About This Video

This video is me bringing my very first “big” maker project full circle: an Iron Man gauntlet that’s actually wearable—except this time I rebuilt it in real metal using metal 3D printing. Years ago I printed a plastic version with flexible fingers, a working LED, and even a speaker for repulsor sounds. That prototype wasn’t just a prop, it was the starting point for my whole engineering journey—back when I was still learning CAD and soldering wires for the first time. To make the metal remake real, I partnered with JLC3DP and sent in my redesigned files so the parts could be printed in stainless steel. I talk through a huge lesson I’ve learned since the first build: do test prints and slice your project before committing to a full run, because fit is everything on wearable hardware. Once the parts arrived, I went to my grandparents’ place to paint everything into that reflective silver finish (primer + chrome), which was honestly special because my grandpa helped on the original hand too. I also upgraded the LED and show the simple 9V + button wiring, then designed a ring to stabilize the light and positioned the button so it triggers when I open my hand. The takeaway: metal 3D printing is insanely precise, and for me this isn’t the end of the Iron Man build—it’s the start of something bigger.
