About This Video

What is up everybody, Mani here. In this Analytic Bouldering episode I break down a super funky green boulder I’d call the “Green Mamba”: dynos, coordination, and some proper barn door madness. It’s in that annoying-to-grade zone (around 6C to 7A / V5-V6) because the holds are actually pretty good and big, but the movement is weird: slabby-to-vertical terrain, a juggy undercling-ish start, a far second “ear” hold, and a volume up top that forces you to solve momentum instead of just pulling harder. The core lesson is the barn door: my body is on the wrong side of the hold axis, so the swing wants to rip me off. I show two main solutions. First, I catch the second hold with both hands and do a foot switch—left foot steps in, right foot presses against the wall—to kill the rotation. Second (and honestly the fun one), I use a toe hook catch on the big ear, then step onto the other side to create friction and turn that into a dynamic push. From there, once I’m on the right side of the axis, the barn door disappears and I can finish with a stand-up dyno to the top jug.
