About This Video

In this video I’m basically trying to save you from the most common crafting trap: getting attached to one “great” idea and then digging yourself into a mental hole. A lot of the time we’re super creative at the start—boom, we think we’ve got it—and then we just roll with it. But when you lock onto one solution too early, every problem you hit turns into you forcing the build instead of stepping back and finding a cleaner, smarter way to make it. So I walk through 5 simple ways I generate my best problem-solving DIY ideas. I make myself think from different angles and ask questions like: “How can this be simpler?” Sometimes the best move is not making everything from scratch—use what’s already made (PVC pipe, a milk container, whatever fits the shape). I also think about what new tools, materials, or skills I might need, but I don’t get bogged down in details during the idea phase—those come later. Then I let ideas simmer over time (sleep on it, use spare moments instead of doom-scrolling), and I’ll even pull in friends for collaboration when I need fresh angles. If you want a step-by-step path from no idea to finished project, grab my free C.R.A.F.T. framework linked on the page.
