Glue gun jams are one of those things that can stop a cardboard build dead in its tracks, so in this video I walk you through 5 ways I unjam a hot glue gun without taking it apart. I start with the simplest fix: checking the trigger and the “push section” in the back. Sometimes the glue stick gets stripped so there’s nothing for the trigger to grab, and the gun won’t feed. I show you how to test this when the gun is as hot as it can go, and how pushing the glue stick from the back can give you way more force to get to a fresh section. From there I move into needle methods—“hot needle” for clearing internal blockage while the gun is heated up, and “cold needle” for cleaning debris right around the tip without even warming it. Then I cover the cold pull: letting the gun cool completely and pulling the glue stick straight out the back (slow and steady, because you don’t want to tear up the internals). Finally, I explain the risky last resort: a hot pull with a cool-down step to reduce the chance of spreading glue inside and making the jam worse. And yes—sometimes a glue gun is jammed so bad it’s just done, and at that point I’d rather you replace it than fight it forever.
