About This Video

Do you struggle with cable management—like a dangling mess of USB cables and adapters—and you’re trying to simplify your desk setup? Trust me my friend, I’ve been there. In this video I build a DIY cardboard USB hub mount that hides the clutter, keeps things clean, and (this is the important part) lets the hub stay removable so you can still take it with you when you need to. I walk through my process: tracing the hub on paper to get a life-size reference, marking where the ports land, and choosing the right cardboard types (double-layer where you need strength, thinner pieces where you need clearance). I also talk about corrugation direction—because folds and strength change depending on which way the flutes run—and how to design with straight lines so you can cut everything with just scissors. Then I build from the base up, use factory edges when I can, reinforce corners with a bead of hot glue, test-fit early, and even show how I fixed a placement mistake by remelting hot glue with a heat gun and shifting the mount. The big takeaway: the same planning-and-build steps work for mounting basically anything around your workspace, not just a USB hub.
