But the real goal is to zoom in on your unique “fingerprint” of creativity—what Seth Godin calls your genius—because that’s where your most uniquely-you work comes from. I use the Russian nesting doll idea to show how creativity gets more powerful as it gets more focused. Then I walk you through 8 questions that help you find your creative sweet spot: what lights you up (and why), what you’re good at, what you love learning about, what others say about you, what your past can show you (including what you did as a kid), and your reasons for creating. I also talk about inhibition—how being overly worried about what people think can shut down your ideas—and why you often get your best ideas when you feel “free,” like in the shower.
