About This Video

We’re back in marker land again—I'm Chris, this is Jay—and yeah, you better get used to it because it’s going to be markers for the next two years. In this video we’re testing AK Interactive Quick Gen paint… but in marker form. These aren’t the AK Play Markers (that’s regular paint); these are Quick Gen “contrast-style” paints delivered through a flexy synthetic brush tip, not the hard felt tip like some other speed markers. The big thing I’m watching for is flow: how runny it is, how much control you keep, and whether it streaks on flatter surfaces. We talk a lot about why this tech is catching on. For new painters (and honestly returning folks too), the barrier is way lower: no setup, no cleanup, just pop the cap and paint. It’s still a brush, so the brush skills actually transfer if you ever want to move into “traditional” painting. The reality is: slap chop + a solid drybrush + contrast/speed/quick paints (markers included) can look really good fast. The downsides? You can lose some control over how much paint comes out, and these Quick Gen markers can take a bit of pumping/holding to get saturated—plus you’ll still see streakiness on flat panels if you go too thin. Once they’re flowing and you apply it a bit heavier, they level out and dry nicer than they look when first applied.
