But home gaming has a different appeal: you can leave a game mid-way and come back, take a 30-minute break, crack a beer, swear a little, put a show on, and just play without worrying about the shop culture or business rules. The big turning point is relationships—bringing games home usually happens when your gaming group becomes actual friends, not just store acquaintances. The downside? You’re on the hook for your own tables, terrain, and setup… and terrain can get sneaky-expensive. But two painted armies on a painted table? That’s magic.
