About This Video

Welcome back you hobby people—this is one of those year-end “lazy” best-of videos, but it’s the kind that actually matters: five hobby products we genuinely used, kept using, and watched slide straight into our day-to-day painting workflow. There’s definitely some recency bias (a lot of the really good stuff landed later in the year), but every pick here is something that earned a spot in the arsenal because it makes painting easier, faster, or just more enjoyable. We run through the AK “Special Brush” (which makes absolutely no sense how good it is for how basic it looks), the Army Painter Speed Palette (deep wells, paint pops out, and it’s stupid easy to clean), and the Artist Opus “egg” handle system that just sits in the hand like the old Citadel Mark 1. We also talk about a new metallic paint line that feels like a no-doubter grand slam—fine pigment, insane coverage, and colors that unlock stuff like metallic purples/reds without a long, painful process. And for me personally, Quick Gen paint took the top spot in the contrast-style lineup, especially through the airbrush—dries and shrinks beautifully and sits where you want it to go. At the end, we power-rank it all, and yeah… number one is the Special Brush. We ordered them in the hundreds. That’s not something we do.
