About This Video

Hobby people people hobbying—this is our January 2026 “On The Paint Table” check-in, where we show what actually got finished and talk about when it makes sense to start new techniques (and when it’s going to derail your goals). I wrapped up the big nurgly “Dog Water” guys, including the yellow-skin experiment that had everyone at the store going, “What the hell are you doing?” I started with bright yellow and purple smashed on, then refined it with AK QuickGen Plague Yellow over a zenithal, plus yellow-greens, dark camo green for shadows, and ice yellow/ivory for highlights. I also leaned into the new True Metal “Age Metal” recipe on the weapons, which I’m getting really fond of. On top of that, I banged out eight Pestigors (yes, I’ve now painted all the gores—Slangors, Zangors, Pestigors… apparently I love Beastmen). Then I checked back in on my Votann deadline—end of March-ish/early April—and got six Brokhyr Thunderkyn done in my simple, repeatable scheme: black with blue highlights, soft yellow and magenta for all the glowy bits, plus some decals. I did get sidetracked early January by painting a Void Dragon for our store’s 500 Worlds event, so now it’s back to painting every day—at least an hour—because that’s what keeps the progress real.
