About This Video

Welcome back to the slow, monotonous crawl that is army painting. This month’s “On the Paint Table” is (surprise) still Votann and Darkwater—because 2,000 points is a lot of models these days, and we’ve been living in that grind for months. I show off my Hearthguard (the tanky plasma-sword/plasma-gun crew that just look insanely cool—very Starcraft vibes) and my trench coat scouts, which ended up being way more fun than I expected once I got past the “ugh, all coats” first impression. I also talk about pushing my leather work by making the highlights rougher and less “perfect,” which is absolutely outside my normal neat-and-crisp comfort zone. Jay’s side is Darkwater progress: finished rot-something mutants, the super “busy” maggot-witch model, and the big boxy guy everyone wants to paint. We get into how he approached that greenish-yellow by starting yellow and tinting it with greens (because yes, complementary colors work), plus some quick honesty on “I don’t know what this is, it’s going to be brown.” Next month is basically vehicle day for me—Hecatons and a Sagittar—plus I’ve got 15 Berserkers looming… and Jay’s staring down the classic existential “what’s next?” hobby moment.
