About This Video

In this video, I’m talking about that weird spot some of us hit after decades in the hobby: you’re not just “burnt out,” you’re just barely hanging on. You’re buying the bundle box, you’re going through the motions, and somehow you feel nothing at all. You’re not really painting, not really playing, and it turns into grumbling about rules changes, prices, dice, or whatever the complaint-of-the-week is. At that point, I’m honestly asking: do you even like this anymore? Jay and I dig into how normal cycles work—gaming slumps when editions flip or your army gets re-jigged, painting slumps when you’re on your 6,000th gaunt, and life slumps when kids, work, and responsibilities crush your hobby bandwidth. The big takeaway is expectations versus reality: if your expectations stayed the same but your time/energy changed, you’ll feel unhappy. The reset is simple (and it’s a brutal little flowchart): am I doing this for me, and is it fun? If it’s not fun and it’s making you angry all the time, take a break, reset expectations, or stop—because this is supposed to be the greatest thing, not another source of misery.
