Today Chris and I head back to “troubleshoot town” for the most common airbrush panic: it won’t spray. Between selling airbrushes for 11-ish years, using them way longer than that, and walking hundreds of people through fixes, we’ve seen the same issues over and over. The big takeaway is simple: most “broken” airbrushes aren’t broken—your nozzle is clogged, your paint mix is too thick (or has junk in it), or you’ve got paint drying right where the needle and nozzle meet. If you’re getting bubbling/backfiring, that’s usually the air trying to go somewhere because the front end is blocked. We run through a practical checklist: mix paint in a separate container until you’re consistent, use smaller cups so paint isn’t drying in the bowl for 20–30 minutes, and consider flow improver (it’s not the same as thinner—it slows drying at the tip). We also cover the “you’d be surprised” fixes: your air cap might just not be snug, you might have mixed nozzle/air cap sizes and blocked airflow, or you’ve got gummy paint around the trigger ball/socket because you pulled a dirty needle out the back. If you’ve truly checked everything, then yes—sometimes it’s a worn nozzle or, very rarely, internal seals… but 99% of the time the TL;DR is: clean it better, then clean it again.
