About This Video

What’s going on you hobby people—this one’s a bit different. In this video I’m showing off a painted model showcase from our store’s 500 Worlds narrative campaign mega battle. The idea is old school and simple: paint up a unit, bring it in, and throw down in a big, silly, themed narrative game. We’re doing these events monthly for the next couple months, and we’ve started a display cabinet to keep the community-painted Necrons and Ultramarines as the collection grows. We talk through a bunch of standout pieces and why they work. Kev’s Necron model is a straight-up banger and a great example of grinding non-metallic metal: the theory is easy, but you only get good by putting in reps—blending, color control, and lighting placement. We also show ultra-clean “box scheme” metallic Necrons, my own not-quite-finished big Necron (yes, I spent way too much time on floating rocks), and some gorgeous Ultramarines that nail that retro vibe with crisp decals, smart contrast, and warm, natural basing. Big takeaway: surround yourself with painters who push you, ask good questions, and put the time in. And if you like these community showcase videos, tell us—because we’ll happily do more as 500 Worlds keeps rolling.
