In this video I’m running Returnal on ASUS’ new tandem OLED, the ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W, and I’m basically just reacting in real time to what this panel is doing. I only had the monitor for a couple hours when I recorded, but it genuinely lived up to the hype for me. The big thing is the True-Black glossy finish—those total black levels look like a dark abyss, shadow detail is insane, and that glossy nature adds a little extra clarity that I’m obsessed with. What makes this one feel different is the tandem OLED brightness. I’m seeing roughly 300–400 nits across the whole screen (which is wild for OLED), plus peak highlights that are claimed around the 1400 nit range. In Returnal, explosions, projectiles, and HDR moments pop in a way that feels more realistic, not just “brighter for the sake of it.” I’m not going to say it’s 4K, but picture-quality-wise this is the best 1440p monitor I’ve ever seen—and in this game specifically, if I hadn’t known better, I’d understand why some people say it looks borderline 4K-ish. This is easily one of my favorite HDR monitor showcases I’ve seen all year.
