Scale used in the video: http://amzn.to/2oZv7PS In this video we are checking the stylus tracking force using the digital scale by Neoteck. In an earlier video we balanced the tonearm and set the stylus tracking force as well as anti-skating. However, it is a good idea to use a digital scale gauge just to make sure your stylus tracking force is set correctly. The Neoteck Digital Turntable Stylus Force Scale Gauge comes with a 5g calibration weight. We went further and verified that weight with a professional scale. It did measure exactly 5 grams so it is safe to say that Neoteck is rather precise. They do mention a .01g error margin which is negligible. About This Video

In this video I’m checking stylus tracking force (vertical tracking force) the easy, cheap, and accurate way: with a digital stylus force scale. If you followed my earlier guide on balancing the tonearm and setting tracking force and anti-skate, you’re probably very close already—but I still like to verify. A small $12–$14 tool like the Neoteck scale gives you a real measurement at the stylus tip, so you’re not just trusting the numbers on the counterweight. I walk through the full process: first, calibrate the scale using the included 5g weight (mine measured exactly 5.0g, and Neoteck’s stated 0.01g error margin is negligible). Then I set anti-skating to zero, unclip the arm, align the stylus over the center dot, turn the scale on, and gently lower the stylus onto it. My reading came in at 3.04g—very close to what I set on the counterweight—so I know I’m dialed in. If your reading is off by something significant (like 3.5g when you set 3.0g), I recommend rebalancing the arm and remeasuring until everything matches. Don’t forget to set anti-skate back when you’re done.
