This weekend I took a quick tour of the Montreal Audio Fest (Salon Audio Montreal), a free event the city’s been running for decades, and it’s basically a playground for hi-fi nerds. You’ve got rooms full of high-end audio gear—serious sound systems and turntables—so even if you’re not shopping, it’s still worth walking through just to hear what’s out there and see what different setups look like in real life. But let’s be honest: the real reason I was there was the record fair. I spent my time digging through new and used records to see what was in stock, and I ended up leaving with just one pickup—Primal Scream, sealed, for about $11. Overall, it was a really cool place with nice equipment, and I met quite a few great people. I’m planning to link up with some of them for future LongPlayVinyl videos, and I’ll most likely be back next year because there was a lot of chill stuff to see.
