About This Video

In this video I’m packing for our family dive trip to Cozumel, Mexico, and I’m doing it the way I like to travel: light, organized, and under the airline weight limits. I walk you through exactly what we’re taking for two divers and two non-divers (yep—mermaid tails included), and how I avoid hauling a bunch of extra boxes when I don’t need to. The goal is simple: bare essentials, protected gear, and no surprises at the check-in counter. I’m using two Pelican Air 1615 cases plus my SSI instructor bag, and the big “trick” is that minus my boots and fins, all of my dive gear, clothes, and personal items fit into a small dry bag. I show what’s in each case—clothing, toiletries, camera/spare parts kit, lights, masks, computers, and my daughter’s Marz XR backplate/wing and regs—then I break down what’s inside my dry bag: my “monkey diving” (single tank sidemount) reg set, a compact Marz XR 22lb bladder sidemount BCD, and the week’s clothing. To wrap it up, I weigh both cases so you can see real numbers: 39.32 lbs and 42.44 lbs. Pelican Air cases aren’t as heavy as people think, airlines don’t care about your gear, and these boxes protect it—so you can travel smarter and show up ready to dive.
