What’s up, guys? This is Brian from Lake Hickory Scuba & Marina, and this video is dive #2 in our Cozumel series where I’m trying to help you learn reef life the fun way—by making you spot it yourself. We drop in on Paradise Reef in Cozumel, Mexico, and I challenge you to find three specific species during the dive: the Caribbean King Crab, the Bluehead Wrasse, and the Common Remora. The whole point is to get you looking closer, paying attention, and then going and learning a little more about what you’re seeing underwater. Paradise Reef is a great little shallow reef dive with a very mild current, which makes it an awesome spot for beginner scuba divers and snorkelers. It’s not a deep reef system, and you can easily spend about an hour to an hour and a half down there just cruising, practicing good buoyancy, and scanning the reef for critters. If you want to go deeper on species ID and ecology, I also recommend checking out the SSI Ecology programs—easy online learning, a final exam, and you earn a specialty rating.
