About This Video

What’s up, guys—Bryan again from Lake Hickory Scuba & Marina. In part seven of my personal 2026 Rig Run Down series, I’m keeping it simple because this one’s all about my dive camera setup. Over the years I’ve tried a bunch of different options, but for 2026 I’ve trimmed it down to one camera that just flat-out works for how I dive and how I film: the GoPro Hero 12. I like a “set it and forget it” system, and that’s exactly why I stick with the GoPro. I run it in a basic dive housing and I don’t even bother recording in 4K—I leave it at 1080p. That’s partly because it’s easy, and partly because for Deep Water Salvage on the Weather Channel we’re required to film on GoPros at 1080/30, so that’s what I keep it set to all the time. Underwater, my go-to is a simple handle with a splitter and a cheap Amazon light that complements the GoPro really well. I also mount it depending on the job: mask mount for POV footage, full face mask mount that pops off quick when I want to move it, and helmet mounting for public safety-style work—plus the lights swap over and pair up great. I’m more into videography than photos, so if I need a “picture,” I’ll just grab a screenshot from the video in my editor.
