About This Video

In this final video of my 2026 personal rig rundown series, I lay out the accessories I’m actually using this year—and I break them down the same way I think about dives: recreational, technical, and then commercial/salvage/public safety. I’ve got a slew of stuff on the table, so I walk you through what each item is, how I’ve got it set up, and what it’s used for when I’m underwater (or even when I’m the surface guy for the day). On the recreational side I cover the basics I teach with and carry day-to-day: SSI pro slates, a small light, a roll-up snorkel (yes, it’s an accessory), cutting tools like shears and a line cutter, spare double-enders, and a pre-rigged DSMB/spool setup that stays tangle-free. From there I roll into the technical side with wet notes, arm slates, teaching slates and my “miniature cheat sheets” for communicating scenarios underwater, plus reels/spools, markers (cookies/line arrows), primary and backup DSMBs, and my helmet/light setup. Then we get into the professional end: comms for full face masks, a live-feed camera system we can drop before a diver ever gets in, specialty items like a DUI weight harness for surface-supplied/confined space work, tending harness and lines, lift bags, and my “do not leave home without it” spud tool. Bottom line: I don’t use every accessory on every dive—but depending on the job, I use all of them.
