About This Video

Hey y’all! In this video I’m packing school lunches for my fifth grader and my third grader, and I’m sharing several real-life lunchbox ideas that actually work for our mornings. I’m using our Bentgo-style bento boxes for the cold items, plus their Thermos food jars for hot lunches (and I show you how I prime them, because it truly matters if you want the food to stay hot). I’m all about simple, budget-friendly options that my kids will actually eat—nothing fancy, just practical. I start with one of their all-time favorites: mini pigs in a blanket made with crescent rolls and Lil Smokies, plus easy sides like halved grapes (I don’t care how old they are, I’m always cutting grapes), Babybel cheese, and a homemade cookie treat. Then I do a hot thermos lunch with macaroni and tomato juice—something I grew up on and it’s so inexpensive—paired with Golden Delicious apple slices and a little cup of Jif peanut butter. I also share homemade “Uncrustables” with Nutella and banana, pizza sliders on Hawaiian sweet rolls, and an end-of-week no-brainer using frozen meals in the thermos. Lots of variety, lots of balance, and all very doable on a budget.
