About This Video

It is small bathroom makeover time, and I was so ready to fix the stuff that’s been driving me crazy in here. The painted sink top was coming off (it looked gross), the faucet was a cheap Amazon mistake (don’t buy a faucet from Amazon), and I just wanted this tiny bathroom to finally look fun and pretty—because this is the bathroom our guests use. I started by ripping out the towel rack we never use, patching the wall, and pulling trim because I was redoing the whole look. I added faux shiplap (about $35) and learned real quick that nothing in this bathroom is even—our walls and floors are the most uneven things I’ve ever seen in my life—so yes, I was contemplating everything I’ve ever thought of in my life while doing it alone. I also built a simple little shelf with a 1x3 and 1x2, painted it (and had to switch paints because the first one was too matte and showed every roll line), and hung a Highland cow picture I grabbed half off at Hobby Lobby. The biggest win was the free roadside vanity: it was nasty, I wore gloves, I sanded and painted it with my go-to Pittsburgh paint, swapped hardware, and installed a new faucet. I’m pretty proud of the plumbing too—two times in this bathroom and never a leak.
