About This Video

Hey guys—today I’m sharing a full kitchen thrift-flip video where I take cheap secondhand finds (and a couple items I already had) and turn them into farmhouse decor that looks high-end… without looking cheesy. I start with a little “cutting board” situation (it’s more like a recipe stand, honestly) that I grabbed for $1.49 at our Goodwill ASIS store. I used a glue stick to attach scrapbook paper (which surprised me because I actually ended up loving it), added twine up top because you can always add twine, and then finished it with a black-painted wooden rooster and a little bronze gilding wax for extra detail. Next, I finally tackled a big solid wood cutting board that had been sitting around forever. I sanded it down, stained it in Early American (Minwax), then taped off the bottom and painted that section black—because lately I’m obsessed with staining wood and adding black. I used my little hair dryer (my go-to because I do not like waiting for paint to dry) and added a silk screen transfer with three goats in white chalk paste—because I have three goats and it was just too perfect. I also show some behind-the-scenes cleaning (I always wash thrifted stuff), then I do budget canisters with white chalk paste transfers, and I turn a $4.29 frame piece into a black tray with sanded edges and super cheap handles. It’s proof you can decorate on a budget and still make it look really cute.
